WICHITA — Traffic is flowing again on K-42 southwest of Wichita this afternoon, less than two hours after a two-vehicle collision sent a man to the hospital in critical condition.
The collision was reported at 11:24 a.m. Tuesday at K-42 and 135th Street West, which is southwest of Schulte, a Sedgwick County dispatcher said.
A car drifted across the center line and slammed into a semi or trash truck, the dispatcher said.
The driver of the car, a man about 30 years of age, was flown by EagleMed to Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis. The truck driver suffered minor injuries and declined treatment at the scene.
K-42 was closed to traffic in both directions at 135th.
The driver of the car remains in critical condition at St. Francis, where a spokeswoman said he is still being evaluated.
