It turns out that speculation last week that Wichita may be done with triple-digit temperatures for the year was premature. Wichita faces a double dose of 100s over the next couple of days, forecasters say.
If the forecast proves accurate, that will tie 2011 with the fabled summer of 1980 for second-most 100s in a year at 46.
Today’s high could reach 103, forecasters say, with south-southwest winds blowing steadily in the teens and gusts nearing 25 miles an hour. Sunny skies are expected for each of the next several days, and forecasters say highs on Wednesday will nearly match today.
Lows tonight will bottom out in the upper 70s, and there’s a slight chance of late-night thunderstorms.
