WICHITA — It's not exactly a scene from "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre," but a man nonetheless made away with an estimated $20,000 in gold from a Wichita business on Saturday.
The man came into Gold and Diamond Traders at 4881 E. Harry, near Oliver, at about 3:45 p.m. Saturday with a small piece of gold, Lt. Doug Nolte said. While he was waiting, he spotted a bag containing gold scraps, grabbed it and ran out the door.
The door locks from both sides, Nolte said, but it was being held open by an accomplice, who joined the robber in fleeing in a black Toyota Camry driven by a woman. The Camry had the license plate 710 CNU.
The suspect is described as a black man between the ages of 18 and 20. He was 6-feet-2 and had cornrows in his hair. He was dressed in a black shirt and shorts.
