Maintenance crews will begin repairing joints and cracks on K-96 in northeast Wichita tonight, officials said.
The work, which will stretch from I-135 to Greenwich Road, will be done in segments at night to reduce the impact on traffic, Kansas Department of Transportation spokesman Tom Hein said.
Crews will work from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays, Hein said, though the first day of work is tonight. Traffic will be reduced to one lane both directions during the work periods, and the speed limit will be reduced to 55. But those restrictions will only be for the segment being worked on, not the entire stretch of the project, Hein said.
The project is expected to be completed in two or three weeks, Hein said.
