Sixteen Kansas employers were honored Saturday night in Wichita for their support of employees who serve in the military.
The Kansas Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve presented the awards at a banquet at the Hotel at Old Town Conference Center.
Alan Barrett, committee awards chairman, said employers were grouped into three categories: large businesses, small businesses and government.
The organization's top Pro-Patria Awards were given to Wesley Medical Center, Cornerstone AG of Colby, and the Kansas City, Kan., school district.
Wichita-area employers receiving the Above and Beyond Awards were: ACI Motor Freight; Cargill Meat Solutions; Hawker Beechcraft; Koch-Glitsch, LP; Thunderbird Bowl; Yankee Candle Inc.; and the Dillons Distribution Center in Goddard.
Other winners of the Above and Beyond Award were Bourbon Trucking of Jewell; the Flint Hills Technical College of Emporia; the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company of Topeka; Marathon Solutions of Lenexa; the Subway restaurant in Abilene; and the University of Kansas Medical Center Police Department.
