A man who was forced out of a house by tear gas Friday night was arrested on suspicion of four counts of aggravated assault, three counts of aggravated child endangerment and possession of a firearm by a felon after allegedly pointing a handgun at seven people while threatening to shoot a 20-year-old man, police said Saturday.
The seven people ranged in age from 7 to 48, police Sgt. Steve Yarberry said. No injuries were reported.
After the man allegedly made the threat at about 4:39 p.m. Friday, he went into a house in the 1600 block of North Holyoke, Yarberry said. When police arrived, dispatchers said, the man refused to come out.
The SWAT team was then called and eventually used tear gas. The man was taken into custody shortly after 7 p.m. He is 27 years old, Yarberry said.
