Nephew returns pickup truck with bullet holes

A 49-year-old man told Wichita police he had lent his pickup truck to his 19-year-old nephew for the evening — who returned it with multiple bullet holes.

The uncle called 911 at 2:45 a.m. Sunday to report the incident. He told police his nephew said he was fired at by unknown suspects in the area of the QuikTrip at 13th and Oliver, shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday, according to Sgt. Steve Yarberry, spokesman for the Wichita Police department.

"Dispatch did not receive any calls in that area at that time, so we don't have any other information on it," Yarberry said Sunday during a police briefing with local media.
