Train strikes, kills Hutchinson man

A 19-year-old Hutchinson man died early today after a train struck him near the 1600 block of East Second Avenue in Hutchinson.

Sgt. Eric Buller of the Hutchinson Police Department said Aaron Decker died about 12:45 a.m. today at the scene of the accident. Buller said a northbound Union Pacific train struck and killed Decker when Decker crossed the tracks on foot.

Decker was with two other people at the time of the accident. They were not injured.

"He thought he had time to get across and didn't," Buller said.

Investigators have ordered an autopsy.
