The search for a Haven teenager who disappeared while wading at Cheney Reservoir on Monday continues, authorities said, but choppy waters are delaying the recovery operation.
Reno County Sheriff Randy Henderson said Danny Thomas Allen, 16, was pushed into deeper water by a wave while wading about 3 p.m. Monday with his brother Mitchell Mees, 19, and a 17-year-old friend.
Attempts made by Mees to help his brother were unsuccessful, Henderson said. Searches Monday were hampered by strong winds that made waters choppy, and officers resumed shore searches at 7 a.m. today, Henderson said.
"The lake is still rough and boats are not being put in yet," Henderson said via e-mail at mid-morning.
