Wichita could hit 100 for the first time this year today, forecasters say, as an early sample of summer sizzles the region.
The record high of 95, set back in1895, is almost certain to fall. Sunny skies and robust southwest winds of more than 20 miles an hour will help readings climb quickly, forecasters say. Gusts will top 30 miles an hour.
Overnight lows will only dip to about 70 under clear skies. South winds will remain strong, touching 30 mph in gusts.
Tuesday’s highs should climb to the mid-90s, before a chance of showers arrives on Wednesday. Some of those storms could be severe.
