Showers and thunderstorms are possible later today in the Wichita area, forecasters say. None of the storms are expected to be severe, however.
Winds will be strong as well, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a wind advisory until 7 p.m. West-northwest winds will increase from the teens to the upper 20s, with gusts surpassing 35 miles an hour in the Wichita area. That will make driving challenging for high profile vehicles such as vans and semi-trailer trucks.
Highs today are expected to hit the upper 60s. Showers may persist into early Thursday morning, with overnight lows falling to the low 50s. Thursday should be pleasant, however, with sunny skies and highs in the low 70s.
