Fast-moving thunderstorm has Wichita in its sights

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued until 7 p.m. for southern Butler, northwestern Cowley, southeastern Sedgwick and Sumner counties.

At 5:52 p.m., meteorologists were tracking a line of thunderstorms capable of producing quarter-size hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. They were in a line from Viola to Caldwell and moving northeast at 65 mph.

Cities included in the warning include Wellington, downtown Wichita, El Dorado, Clearwater, South Haven, Haysville, Belle Plaine, Derby, Mulvane, McConnell Air Force Base, Andover, Rose Hill, Douglass and Towanda.
