Woman shot at Wichita party

Two men, who showed up at a party where they weren't wanted at Friday night, pulled out guns, started shooting and hit a 19-year-old woman in the right hip, Wichita Police Sgt. Steve Yarberry said.

Someone brought the woman to Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis in serious condition.

Police say the two men showed up at a home in the 1000 block of North Volutsia, near 9th Street just west of Hillside, at about 11:30 p.m. Someone asked the men to leave. One of the men fired a shotgun in the air twice "to move the crowd along" and the other man fired several shots with a handgun toward people at the party.

One of the bullets hit the woman.

The shooting happened while two other women and a 1-year-old boy were in the home.

Police haven't found the suspects.
