Dodge City investigates death of 17-year-old

DODGE CITY, Kan. | Dodge City police are investigating the death of a 17-year-old student who was injured during a weekend party.

Authorities identified the boy Tuesday as Dodge City High School student Diego Enriquez-Enriquez. Acting Police Chief Craig Mellecker said results of a preliminary autopsy indicate the teen died from a major head injury.

The death is being treated as a homicide. Mellecker says the teenager was injured at a large party early Saturday and died later at a Wichita hospital.

The Dodge City Daily News reports authorities are still trying to find out what caused the injury. They're also investigating a possible motive.

No arrests have been made.
