Wichita man prays for 'divine intervention' to revive fiancee after death

Police sent by relatives to check on the welfare of a woman found her dead in her bed at her south Wichita home Wednesday night.

Her 54-year-old fiance told the officers that she had been dead for about a week, Lt. Doug Nolte said. The man hadn't notified anyone and instead was praying for "divine intervention" to bring her back to life.

The couple lived together at the house in the 1000 block of South Saint Clair near South Meridian and West Pawnee, Nolte said.

An investigation uncovered nothing that would suggest foul play, he said, but an autopsy is planned today to confirm how she died.

Her fiance was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
