Morning clouds will slowly dissipate in the Wichita area, making way for a sunny afternoon, forecasters say.
Highs should reach the mid-70s, with southwest winds in the teens gusting to the mid-20s. Scattered thunderstorms could develop in the region late this afternoon and tonight, forecasters say. The strongest storms could have hail the size of nickels.
Overnight lows will dip to the upper 40s, and a slight chance for showers remains on Friday morning. Highs will only reach the low 60s.
