Stabbing victim, 16, is expected to survive

A 16-year-old Southeast High School student is expected to survive after being stabbed several times in an apartment complex parking lot, police said today.

Witnesses intervened and held down the suspect until police arrived, and without their intervention, the attack could have been worse, police Lt. Doug Nolte said today.

The incident occurred shortly after 4 p.m. Tuesday outside the Parklane Alley Apartments, at the northeast corner of Lincoln and Oliver.

Police are investigating the possibility that the 16-year-old and the 18-year-old man who has been arrested in the stabbing had a previous argument, Nolte said.

The stabbing does not appear to be gang-related, he said.
