WICHITA — Law enforcement officers will be watching for drivers who fail to stop for approaching trains on Tuesday.
The "Cops on Rails" enforcement effort will run from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office, the Wichita Police Department, the Kansas Highway Patrol and the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad are participating in the joint effort.
Deputies will ride on trains to observe and report drivers who fail to stop for approaching trains. Violators can be fined $195, which doesn't include $95.50 in court costs.
