Emporia State president to resign

EMPORIA — Michael Lane, the president of Emporia State University, said today he will resign, effective June 30.

Lane has been president of Emporia State since 2006. He released a statement to faculty, staff and students this afternoon.

Lane said a job visit he made to a private school last fall "has caused many to question my commitment to ESU. I believe this ongoing concern is detracting from the work that needs to be accomplished at ESU," he said in a statement.
