Bullet from drive-by shooting lodges in bedroom closet

WICHITA — A drive-by shooting early this morning on Jackson Street in northeast Wichita may be gang-related, police said.

The incident happened about 2:15 a.m. in the 2400 block of North Jackson, Lt. Steve Kenney said. A bullet came through a front window and lodged in the closet of a bedroom shared by the parents of four children, Kenney said.

No injuries were reported. The couple has four children, aged 9 to 21.

Although no suspect was seen, Kenney said, the couple's 19-year-old son is a documented gang member and had argued with another man on a previous day.

Police are looking for that man to see if he is connected to the shooting.
