Man robbed after truck breaks down near downtown Wichita

A 26-year-old man told police he was robbed early Sunday by two men after his truck broke down near Eighth and Broadway.

The 26-year-old man told police he was walking home around 3:20 a.m. after his truck broke down when two men approached him and asked him for $5. When he reached into his pocket, he was attacked, said Steve Yarberry of the Wichita Police Department.

One man punched him multiple times in the head, while another took his wallet. The suspects were last seen fleeing on foot toward the parking lot of the Sunflower Inn at Ninth and Broadway. One suspect threw the victim's wallet on the ground after taking his cash and credit card.

The man did not report any injuries, and the suspects have not yet been located, Yarberry said.
