Man says he was beaten, robbed after trying to steal DVDs

Wichita police are investigating a Saturday night robbery in which the victim called police, told them he had been using meth and had been beaten and robbed after trying to steal DVDs.

The incident happened shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Vernon and Market, Sgt. Steve Yarberry of the Wichita Police Department said.

The 20-year-old man told police he and another man he had been staying with were drinking "and shot up meth," Yarberry said. "The victim decided to steal DVDs from the suspect who proceeded to beat the victim with a revolver and threaten to kill him while taking the victim's wallet containing cash."

The 20-year-old man received several contusions to his body and a laceration to his head. He was transported to Via Christi Hospital on Harry.

No arrests have been made, Yarberry said.
