WICHITA — Gordon Bassham has been appointed executive director of the Wichita Crime Commission, replacing longtime director Bobby Stout.
"We feel his experience in both law enforcement and journalism will help the commission advance its mission for many years to come," WCC Board president Joe Self said.
Bassham, who has served as a spokesman for the Wichita Police Department for the last four years, will begin his new job on June 21.
Stout is retiring after 30 years of service to the WCC.

Bassham currently serves as vice-chairperson of the board of directors of Crime Stoppers of Wichita/Sedgwick County.
The Wichita Crime Commission was established in 1952 to provide community oversight of law enforcement in Sedgwick County.
