NAACP lineup for KC convention includes Jackson, Sharpton

The NAACP is announcing its lineup for its 2010 convention in Kansas City.

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People said in a news release today that the Revs. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton will attend.

Other high-profile participants will include gospel music stars BeBe and CeCe Winans, actresses Cicely Tyson and Tatyana Ali, and Democratic Congressmen Bobby Scott of Virginia and Emanuel Cleaver of Missouri.

Newly elected board chairwoman Roslyn M. Brock will deliver her first address.

There also will be workshops and sessions on education, criminal justice, civil rights and social justice issues.

The event will run July 10-15.
