Sedgwick County commissioner Richard Ranzau voiced his disdain for spending federal money at the local level again on Wednesday, when he voted to turn down three different grants for the health department and Comcare.
Ranzau, a Republican who took office in January, has consistently voted against accepting federal dollars for local projects.
“Do we care enough about our community to put our money where our mouth is?” or care only enough to use our children’s and grandchildren’s money, Ranzau asked his colleagues Wednesday.
The grants, totaling about $2.5 million, passed.
