A cold, rainy day is in the forecast for Wichita – though residents will probably prefer that to the heavy snow that is falling in western Kansas today.
A thunderstorm is possible in the area this afternoon before temperatures drop low enough for snow to mix with the rain late tonight, forecasters say. No accumulation is expected, however.
Highs today will reach the low 40s, with east winds in the teens shifting to the north. Gusts could approach 30 miles an hour. Skies will gradually clear overnight, with lows dropping below freezing.
Wednesday should sunny and a bit warmer, with highs around 50. But winds will be robust out of the northwest, forecasters say, blowing steadily in the upper teens and gusting to nearly 30 miles an hour.
