Man shot in southwest Wichita; suspect arrested

One man is under arrest after another man was critically injured in a shooting Saturday morning at his residence in southwest Wichita, police said.

A woman called police about 10:30 a.m. to report that a 42-year-old man had been shot at a fourplex in the 2000 block of West Irving, southeast of McCormick and Meridian, Sgt. Bill Stevens said. The man was shot once in the stomach area by a man he knew, Stevens said.

Neighbors reported seeing a man fleeing northwest, Stevens said. Police knew the man from previous contacts and went to a house that they knew him to frequent in the 2100 block of West McCormick. They found a man in his 50s hiding in a shed and arrested him.
