Man arrested after threatening to blow up City Hall

WICHITA — A 28-year-old man was arrested in west Wichita Sunday morning after threatening to blow up City Hall, authorities said.

The man called 911 at about 10:35 a.m. Sunday and said he was going to strap a bomb to himself, go to City Hall and blow it up, Lt. Doug Nolte said. He was apparently angry at police over something that had happened a few days before.

While he was still talking to a dispatcher, officers arrived at his house in the 9000 block of Westlawn and took him into custody.

No bomb-making or explosives material was found at the man's house, police said.
