WICHITA — A woman's routine walk to her car after work early Sunday morning turned into a fight to keep her purse from a robber — a fight she ultimately lost, police said.
Police responded to the call at 2:25 a.m. Sunday. The woman, 21, told officers that when she left the Papa John’s at 7800 E. Harry, where she worked, a man approached her in the parking lot.
“The suspect took the victim’s purse, ran away and the victim chased the suspect,” said Sgt. Steve Yarberry.
When she caught the man, he pulled a knife out of his coat as they fought over the purse, Yarberry said. He eventually took the purse and ran.
