Butler County authorities are still trying to determine the identities of two people who were killed Friday in a car-train accident northeast of El Dorado.
Sheriff Craig Murphy said the accident occurred at about 4:40 p.m. at an unprotected crossing near K-177 and Northwest 90th Street.
The car was struck by a southbound Burlington Northern Santa Fe train, he said, and it was on fire when the first rescue crews arrived.
Murphy said the bodies were taken to the Sedgwick County Forensic Science Center to determine the ages, genders and identities of the victims.
