JEFFERSON CITY | A total ban on texting while driving moved forward in the Missouri Senate on Wednesday.
A committee approved the measure, allowing it to move to the floor for further debate.
Currently, state law prohibits drivers under 21 from operating cell phones and other handheld devices. The new law would apply to all drivers, but would allow the use of voice-operated or hands-free text-messaging features.
