WICHITA — As part of a campaign to promote healthy living, the city of Wichita is inviting cyclists to a morning of rides and demonstrations in Central Riverside Park on Saturday.
The first Mayor's Family Bike Day will take place from 9 a.m. to noon in the park's main parking lot. It is the second event in Mayor Carl Brewer's 2010 initiative on the importance of individual and community health.
The event will feature guided bike rides along the Arkansas River bike path, bicycle maintenance workshops, games and displays featuring antique and customized bikes. Three bicycles will also be given away, and the first 250 participants will receive T-shirts.
The first guided ride is planned to begin at 9:30 a.m. after an event kick-off from Mayor Brewer.
