Eastern Missouri man stops to help, gets robbed and attacked

HILLSBORO, Mo. | An eastern Missouri man is hospitalized after he was attacked and robbed after pulling over to help another man.

Jefferson County Sheriff Glenn Boyer says the attack happened Monday night on Highway 30. The man told authorities he noticed someone lying on the ground just off the road and stopped to check.

The man on the ground got up, pointed a rifle, and demanded his wallet. The gun went off and struck the would-be Good Samaritan in the hand. His injury is not believed to be life-threatening.
