Wichita weather: Wind calms, turns south for warmer day

WICHITA -- After days of of Kansas wind blowing 30 mph or more, the next couple of days will seem much calmer.

A west, northwest breeze of around 7 mph turns south today, according to the National Weather Service, and with it brings warmer temperatures to the Wichita area on Thursday.

Today’s high is expected to reach 47 degrees under mostly sunny skies, with tonight’s low 27.

The southern wind brings temperatures back into the 50s as the weekend nears, forecasters say. Look for highs of 54 Thursday and 56 degrees Friday.

That wind, meanwhile, is expected to stay around 7 mph.

But gusts of up to 21 mph could return by Friday.
