Nixon to detail job-creation plan today

Gov. Jay Nixon is presenting a five-year plan for creating jobs in high-growth industries in Missouri.

Nixon plans stops today in Kansas City and Kirksville with Missouri Department of Economic Development director David Kerr.

The men will present the initial recommendations of the Missouri Strategic Initiative for Economic Growth to a crowd that will include business, education and economic-development leaders.

Four business leaders were picked to serve on the "executive advisory board" of the new initiative.

The group was charged with developing six to 10 broad objectives that focus on industries important to Missouri's economy, with specific steps to foster their growth.
