Carson Bank robbed on East Douglas

WICHITA — The FBI and police are investigating the armed robbery this afternoon of Carson Bank, 4641 E. Douglas.

One of the two robbers was armed with a handgun, Wichita police Capt. Hassan Ramzah said.

No one was injured.

Ramzah gave this account: Shortly after 1 p.m. two men approached employees, demanded cash and forced the employees to give them money. The robbers left in an unknown direction from the bank, on the south side of Douglas and just west of Oliver.

One of the robbers wore a red mask.

It didn't appear that any customers were there when the robbery occurred.

Ramzah said the robbers were described as two black males wearing hooded sweatshirts. Both were about 5 feet 10 inches tall; one appeared to weigh 215 to 250 pounds, the other 190 pounds.

Ramzah asked that anyone with information about the robbery call 911.

The FBI is leading the investigation, and Wichita police are assisting, Ramzah said.
