Tafanelli to become next Kansas adjutant general

Col. Lee Tafanelli,- assistant adjutant general of the Kansas Army National Guard and commander of the Kansas Army National Guard is slated to be pinned Tuesdayas a brigadier general.

Gov.-elect Sam Brownback has named Tafanelli the next Kansas adjutant general, replacing Maj. Gen. Tod Bunting, who retires at the end of Gov. Mark Parkinson's term.

The pinning ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the State Defense Building Complex, Nickell Armory, Room 115, 2722 S.W. Topeka Blvd. in Topeka.

Tafanelli, from Ozawkie, has been a member of the Kansas National Guard for more than 30 years.

He has previously served as commander of the Guard's 69th Troop Command.
