A mid-week day with a bit of edge to it is on tap for the Wichita metropolitan area today.
Highs may touch 40 under mostly cloudy skies, with north winds nudging double digits, forecasters say. Overnight lows will slide into the low 20s with clouds persisting.
Thursday sees the arrival late in the day of a winter storm. Before then, highs will only reach the upper 30s with cloudy skies. Winds will be out of the east-northeast in the low teens, forecasters say.
Rain on Thursday night will change over to ice before midnight, then to snow early Friday morning, forecasters say.
