Woman dies in Saturday's West Kellogg accident

A 56-year-old woman was killed Saturday when her vehicle crashed into a family's vehicle that was stopped.

The accident happened at 7:35 p.m. Saturday and temporarily closed the eastbound lanes of Kellogg near West Street.

Wichita police say the driver of the stopped vehicle, a 39-year-old male had stopped his gray GMC on the eastbound lane after he became sick.

"The victim, also driving east, struck the stopped vehicle in the back end," said Sgt. Steve Yarberry, spokesman for the Wichita Police Department.

Inside the stopped vehicle was a 34-year-old woman and four children. The 56-year-old woman was taken to Via Christi on St. Francis where she was pronounced dead. Several people in the other vehicle suffered minor injuries.
