Party-goers steal presents from under family's Christmas tree

Wichita police are investigating a residential robbery that occurred early Sunday in which five people, invited to a party, ended up stealing the presents under the family's Christmas tree.

The robbery was reported to Wichita police at 3:55 a.m. Sunday in the 2300 block of N. Ridgewood.

The four victims included a family of three - a 50-year-old male; a 58-year-old female; a 19-year-old son; and an 18-year-old male who was spending the night at the house, according to Sgt. Steve Yarberry, spokesman for the Wichita Police Department.

The 50-year-old male told police five people were invited to the house by the 19-year-old. Those five people proceeded to beat up the son and his friend while taking a flatscreen TV and presents under the tree.

Police are searching for the five suspects who left the scene in a dark-colored older-model two-door car.The 19-year-old was taken to Wesley and treated for a broken nose. The 18-year-old suffered minor injuries.
