Victims in boating mishap identified; search for boy continues

Coffey County authorities conceded today they presume an 11-year-old boy has drowned in the same boating mishap that claimed the lives of his father and uncle.

The sheriff's office was alerted at about noon Saturday that a boat had capsized on the John Redmond Reservoir. During a search of the reservoir by numerous law enforcement agencies, the bodies of two men were found on the shoreline, along with debris from the boat.

They have been identified as 40-year-old Jason Jenkins and 22-year-old Clinton Yeager. Jeremy Jenkins, 11, is still missing, authorities said, but he is presumed to have drowned.

The three victims of the boating accident were hunting waterfowl at the time the boat capsized, authorities said. The search for the boy continues.
