Police seek public's help in Cotillion shooting

WICHITA — Wichita police are seeking help from the public in sorting out who shot a 22-year-old man early Sunday morning in the parking lot of the Cotillion.

The man reported being at a private party inside the club at 11120 W. Kellogg when a fight broke out just after 2 a.m. Sunday, police said.

The fight continued outside in the parking lot. The victim and a witness were trying to find their brother and leave when someone jumped out of the passenger side of a vehicle that had pulled up.

The suspect fired three shots, police said. One of the bullets hit the victim in his upper right thigh.

He was taken by private vehicle to Wesley Medical Center, where he was treated and released. The bullet went completely through his thigh, police said.

Police did not learn of the incident until they were contacted by the hospital, Lt. Doug Nolte said. By the time officers arrived at the club, people had dispersed.

Anyone with information about the incident should call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111. Tips can also be sent to Crime Stoppers online at www.wsccs.com or by text via CRIMES (274637). Begin the message with TIP217.
