Man arrested after police find marijuana in backyard

WICHITA — A 66-year-old man was arrested early this morning after police found 10 cultivated marijuana plants growing in his backyard.

Officers sent to check out a suspicious character in the 700 block of South Volutsia at about 1:15 a.m. were given permission by the homeowner to search his house and yard, police said.

They found the marijuana patch in the backyard, along with drug paraphernalia and a large amount of cash.

The homeowner was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail.
