Heart problem blamed for Lee's Summit man's death in Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. | The wife of a Lee's Summit man who died at a hospital after collapsing outside a Lincoln bar says she's been told he suffered heart failure.

Jen Mickelson told the Lincoln Journal Star that preliminary autopsy results showed her husband, 40-year-old Christopher John Mickelson, suffered heart failure of some sort, perhaps a heart attack.

She said her husband had not been treated for any medical problems before his collapse early Sunday morning. Jen Mickelson said she was told that the alcohol he had consumed that morning and the night before did not contribute to his death.

The couple from Lee's Summit had been visiting for homecoming weekend at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She said Christopher had gone to play pool but never made it back to their hotel.
