Man dies after semi strikes motorcycle in west Wichita

WICHITA -- A 51-year-old man was killed late Monday night when his motorcycle was hit by a semitrailer truck on K-42 in west Wichita, authorities said.

Terry Dishon of Wichita was riding south on K-42 at 11:58 p.m. when his Harley Davidson was hit by a semi turning left onto the highway from May Street, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. The crash occurred a few blocks south of Newman University.

Dishon was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. The driver of the semi, 60-year-old Floyd Renner of Anthony, was not injured.

The accident was initially reported as a semi striking a pedestrian. K-42 was closed at Harry while the accident was being investigated.
