Sweep nets 47 people for failure to pay child support

WICHITA — Forty-seven people were arrested today for failure to pay child support, the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office said this afternoon.

The arrests came as part of a warrant sweep across the Wichita area.

The Sheriff's Office sent 33 deputies, along with officers from police departments in Wichita and Haysville and the Butler County Sheriff, to serve outstanding warrants issued by judges for failing to pay child support.

The arrest cleared 52 warrants. Some of those arrested had more than one warrant.

There were 248 attempts to serve warrants during the sweep.
