School board expected to approve Allison repairs at tonight's meeting

WICHITA — The Wichita school board will meet tonight and is expected to approve more than $500,000 in structural repairs to Allison Traditional Magnet Middle School.

The school district has already contracted $140,000 in repairs to bring the building — on South Seneca near Douglas — up to code.

In July the district filed suit against three engineering and construction firms involved in the project, claiming renovations made as part of the 2000 bond issue were "inappropriate and unsafe" and were a violation of building code.

At tonight's meeting, the board will consider approving a contract with Eby Construction Co. for another $518,000 in structural repairs.
