Pair of political debates set for Wichita today

WICHITA — A pair of political debates will take place in Wichita today.

Republican Mike Pompeo and Democrat Raj Goyle, candidates in Kansas' 4th Congressional District, will face each other tonight at Wichita State University's Hughes Metropolitan Complex, 29th Street North and Oliver. The debate begins at 7 p.m.

The debate is part of the Luzzati Lectureship Series through the political science department. The WSU Political Science club and Student Government Association are the sponsors.

Also today, the two contenders for Kansas attorney general will face off in their first debate of the campaign.

The Wichita Crime Commission is hosting the forum featuring Attorney General Steve Six, a Democrat, and his Republican challenger Derek Schmidt.

The event begins at 11:30 a.m. at the Scotch and Sirloin Restaurant, 5325 E. Kellogg.
