One killed in crash of Missouri Highway Patrol helicopter

ST. LOUIS | One person is dead after a Missouri State Highway Patrol helicopter crashed near a residential subdivision in wooded area in suburban St. Louis.

The Federal Aviation Administration says the only person was on board the aircraft died in the crash Friday morning.

The helicopter took off from Spirit of St. Louis Airport in Chesterfield, Mo. at 11:00 a.m. and crashed in a wooded suburban area. The FAA did not name the victim.
