Man killed by train identified

WICHITA — Wichita police said a 43-year-old Wichita man died early today after being struck by a train downtown.

Wichita Police Lt. Steven Kenney said an engineer for Burlington Northern Santa Fe reported finding a body on the track at midnight. Kenney identified the man as Ricky Loughry and said he is thought to have been sleeping on the track. Emergency crews pronounced the man dead at 12:15 a.m.

The train was traveling at about 25 mph and was able to stop quickly.

Kenney said the man had a Wichita address, so it's not believed he was homeless; there was no indication of suicide.
